After two weeks of joint work of InPhoTech and the Plataforma Solar de Almería (PSA) (the research centre of Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT)) in the frame of the „Fiber optic sensor coatings for high temperature applications” (FIBOSENS) project, both entities agree to closer cooperation. FIBOSENS is a very important project. It helps to develop new optical fibres, coated with various materials, dedicated to harsh environment. The unique solar facilities in PSA enable to test the impact of rapid temperature changes, in the presence of aggressive gases. The thermal shock could generate cracks in the fibre structure and has a significant impact on optical fibre mechanical properties. Such tests are important for further InPhoTech's research on optical fibre sensors for extreme environment.
The scientific closeness of Poland and CIEMAT was also emphasized during the visit of Polish funding institutions: National Centre for Research and Development, National Science Centre and Foundation for Polish Science in the CIEMAT premises.
We eagerly look forward to the possibility of working together.
The project is partially funded in a frame of SFERA-II (Solar Facilities for the European Research Area) in the 7th EU Framework Programme.
